2 years on…the house improvements

Exactly 2 years ago today we moved into our very first flat together. It was one of the most exciting and rewarding days but also a lot of hardwork, so worth it to have our own little pad and get onto the property ladder though.

As many of us do, we wanted a Victorian property with original features. You know, the beautiful sash windows, high ceilings and pretty detail like cornices. But no one really tells you what can go wrong with beautiful old buildings like these. We’ve had a few surprises along the way, discovering dry rot 4 months in was not a highlight but taught us a lot.

This forced us to do some immediate work on the property which we hadn’t really accounted for but it made some amazing improvements straight away.

Although our first foray into house improvements was kinda forced upon us, we took the plunge at the beginning of this year to continue work on the rest of the property. I wrote a little about it in my previous post but now I have some extremely exciting pictures to share with you.

After about 10 weeks of work, endless trips to B & Q and far too many peculiar looks from men in screwfix, we have a sparkly new bathroom, kitchen and living room. Basically everything but our bedroom was done and this was due to us having to live in this one room for some time. It was known as the room of requirement for some time!

So what’s the finished results…

These rooms are beautiful, pinterest worthy. The kitchen is very similar to the one in my family home. That is a shame that you experienced so much hassle in the beginning, but your work has definitely paid off, it looks amazing.

Me and my boyfriend bought our first house last June and I did a similar post called ‘My Home 1 Year On’. Your home looks beautiful like it’s from a magazine! :D. Congrats on your house :).
