This blog post title may at first seem misleading as I do in fact have some goals I want to achieve in 2017…
- Successfully plan a wedding
- Continue to develop in my career
- Significantly grow my social following
- Grow my blog and work with more brands this year
- And travel as much as possible as this is what makes me happiest
Having said that, I do not consider these specific goals, more like general points I would hope to do anyway. If I was back in A Levels and they saw these targets, they would not pass the SMART goal setting rules! They are things I would hope I would achieve even without having them written down or having to take note of.
I am a very organised person and I do like to have some vision of where I will end up in the future but sometimes I can get too hung up on goals and targets. Finding myself trying to justify if I’ve met them or why I haven’t. The more I think about it, the more you focus on targets, the more pressure you put on yourself. This is part of the reason why I will not be making specific targets for 2017.
The other reason why I will not be making targets for myself is because I want to be more relaxed this year. I guess you could call that a goal itself, so you could call that contradictory. But the plain and simple reason is that I want to feel less pressured and be happier this year.
If you do have specific targets you want to meet this year, I wish you the best of luck and I hope you meet them. However, if you find yourself stressed and cannot meet these goals, that is fine. Please do not get hung up on this! Most people put far too much pressure on themselves and cause stress. Let 2017 be a happy year.
This post is going live a little later than I thought it would as I was debating whether to put it live or not. Please let me know what you think..?
