Sorry for being a little quiet recently, there has been a lot on. If anyone didn’t know – my dad got married last week. Which was amazing and we had some great family time together.
After the wedding, Tom and I decided to get away and have a mini break. With nearly a year since our last relaxing holiday, we decided to return to the Cotswolds. After a little research we came across The Lygon Arms Inn on Lastminute.com and decided to go there.
I’ve already got a post about the Cotswolds as we visited Bourton-on-the-water last year. As lovely as that was, we wanted to stay somewhere new so we chose Broadway.
The roads were kind to us so we had a 2 hour clear run down to Broadway before arriving at our hotel. The Lygon Arms is located on the main high street in Broadway so it’s easy to find. We pulled up in the parking bay and eagerly checked in. The staff were lovely, on arrival we were greeted promptly and someone showed us around the hotel and the way to our room.
The reception is in the main building which is a beautiful historic building from the 1300’s. Filled with huge fireplaces, original wood paneling and big hanging chandeliers.
We stayed in one of the separate lodges just behind the main building. You have to walk through one of the prettiest courtyards I’ve ever seen to reach these. The room was lovely, clean and quiet, just what we needed. The most exciting thing in the bathroom was the waterfall shower! I love a good shower. There is nothing worse than getting to a hotel and finding out the showers are naff.
Having dumped our bags and the sun shining we headed straight back to the courtyard. We treated ourselves to a nice bottle of bubbly and relaxed in the laid back environment. It was absolute bliss.
Besides from its charming features, one of the main things that attracted us to the Lygon Arms was the fact that it also has a spa. This mini getaway was all about relaxing and recouping some energy. This was the perfect choice and we both felt totally relaxed after our stay.
I couldn’t recommend this hotel more, it was great and we came back feeling totally refreshed. Friendly staff, relaxing environment and great location.
