I have always had fine, slightly crazy hair that does its own thing. Do you know that type? But over the years I have tried and tested many products to try and maintain its condition and tame it somewhat.
When hairdressers say the shampoo and conditioner you are using matters, believe them – it really does. I used to use Herbal Essences which smelt lovely and did make my hair soft. But around 2 years ago I started using Kerastase Bain Volumifique. After years of styling and dying my hair I noticed that your standard shampoo wasn’t doing much to keep my hair from splitting or adding any volume. Paying a little extra for Kerastase is well worth it for me. I even think it helps my hair grow. I unfortunately have thin hair that doesn’t grow very fast. It gets to a certain length and then just stops! Very annoying. I am always so envious of girls with long thick and voluminous hair.
As well as investing in a good shampoo and conditioner, I also recommend using a serum to prevent any split ends and also help protect your hair from heat and external factors. I am currently using Wella SP Luxe Oil and loving it. It’s lightweight and really nourishes my hair, especially the split ends.
Hair treatments are something I have recently become quite addicted too, I now get one every time I have my hair cut and I have also tried various out at home. I love the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment, it smells great and it has a protein-based complex to stimulate your hair follicles which helps promote hair growth.
I have also tried using jasmine oil and coconut oil as a hair mask at home, this is a lovely aromatic mix which you can apply to damp or dry hair. Leave it on for at least an hour but ideally longer so you can see the full benefits of the natural oils. It can help strengthen your hair from the roots and it also has very good moisturising properties. It leaves my hair very soft and it feels extremely nourished afterwards.
Although the above has been a good start for improving my hair, I continue to search for new products and hopefully one day I will have long voluminous hair 🙂
If you have any tips please do share.
