Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to Jamie’s Italian to try the new Quick and Easy dinner menu which has launched to celebrate Jamie Oliver’s latest book – 5 ingredients.
How could I pass up on an opportunity such as this – firstly, I love Jamie Oliver and secondly, I love love love Italian food. I don’t think the last part of that sentence will surprise anyone! Sadly Jamie was not there himself but nonetheless I was greeted warmly by the staff at the Greenwich restaurant.
The Quick and Easy dinner menu runs Sunday to Thursday from 6pm and offer a collection of starters and mains that feature in Jamie’s new book. All of which come at £15.95 for 2 courses which is amazing value!
I found it hard to choose what to eat but eventually I decided on truffle tagliatelle to start, while Tom chose the pappa al pomodoro soup. I couldn’t resist the fresh pasta and truffle! I mean, who can?!
These were followed by sizzling sirloin and rosé pesto prawn pasta for mains. The steak came with garlicky cherry tomatoes and aubergine mash – delicious! Tom’s pasta was served with a generous portion of prawns and a silky red pesto and rosé sauce. Not a mix I would have ever thought of but it really really works.
I love the inspiration behind Jamie’s 5 ingredients new book and the Quick and Easy menu at Jamie’s Italian allows you to taste some of the creations. Simple, quick food that can be made every day. As someone who has followed all of Jamie’s books, this one is definitely the most straightforward! And better yet, if you want to treat yourself to a midweek dinner the Quick and Easy menu at Jamie’s Italian is the perfect way.
